Yoga Class Descriptions

Community classes give new yoga teachers the chance to lead classes in front of actual students (aka You!) There are many skills that can only be learned while leading classes in an actual studio, which is why we are opening up Bend and Zen Nashville to new yoga teachers to help them gain the much needed in-person teaching experience.

Please walk in with a beginner's mindset and supports these new teachers as they step into the world of teaching yoga!

Room Temp- 85-90

Power Yoga is sometimes referred to a “gym yoga” because it was designed to be intense enough to be considered a workout. It focuses building stamina, strength, flexibility and endurance because you are holding less poses for longer.

In a Vinyasa Flow each pose is matched with a breath, and all postures are linked together in a continuous movement through a series called Sun Salutations. Vinyasa flows tends to lean more toward building flexibility.

We combine these two styles to give you the best of both worlds! While you will practice many of the same poses in each class, Power Vinyasa does not follow set series. Each yoga teacher has the freedom to uniquely create each class to his/her preferences and the needs of the students so classes will vary widely. All-levels welcome!

What to bring: yoga mat, sweat towel, bottled water and a large towel to cover your mat.

Temperature between 95-100 degrees
For those seeking a softer cadence, this class provides a wonderful compliment to the intensity of Power Flow. Whether you are new to yoga or seeking a different rhythm in your practice, this session encourages natural moments of grounding and connection through mindful movement. By integrating yogic wisdom, the practice links physical postures (asanas) and breath with deeper philosophical insights. This connection enhances not just your physical flexibility and strength, but also cultivates emotional equilibrium and inner harmony.
All the things you love about Power Yoga, but in 45 minutes!

This is an anything goes, fast paced, no-nonsense kind of power flow that is taught to old school hip-hop, rap and R&B tunes. Walk in with an open mind, and be ready to explore some unique flows!

Temperature between 95-100 degrees

Learn to combine breathing, flowing postures and meditation in this gentle, but deep approach to Vinyasa yoga. This slower-paced flow class allows time to explore the postures while cultivating strength, flexibility, balance, and calm. Yoga poses are linked to breath to help reveal body awareness, inner strength and easeful opening.

This class is dynamic and will stretch and lengthen every muscle in your body from your head to your toes, but it will do so in a gentle, soothing, and relaxing way. A truly amazing and healing class, perfect for those times when you want the yoga, but not the intense workout. Relax, let go, and enjoy the slow flow!

Core. Balance. Deep Stretch. Strength. The Hot 26 is a set series that consists of 26 poses and 2 breathing exercises. Each practice begins and ends with a breathing technique, and every pose is scientifically sequenced to prepare the body for the next one.

Expect to practice the same poses every time you come to a Hot 26, in the same order, for the same length of time. Nothing ever changes with the order or types of poses in the series. Since there is no music with this style, you are able to focus on your breath and practice more deeply.

Practicing this set sequence creates strength, builds mental & physical endurance, promotes patience.

All-levels welcome!

Yin Yang Yoga blends two styles of yoga into one practice.

Yin Yoga is a slower practice where poses are passively held for longer, working on the deep, dense connective tissues and joints in the body. Yang Yoga, in contrast, refers to a more active practice working on the muscles and blood flow, building strength, stamina and flexibility. Yang styles of yoga are those with rhythm and repetition like Vinyasa Flow.

Yang: First 30 minutes of class
Yin: Final 30 minutes of class

Yin Yoga is a non-heated, very passive approach to yoga where you perform the majority of the poses seated on the the floor or laying down. These poses are held for longer periods of time. sometimes up to 3-5 minutes. Yin Yoga offers the opportunity to enjoy a more relaxed, rejuvenating, grounding practice that has tremendous benefits for body, mind and soul. It is a simple, quiet practice, but make no mistake, it is not always an easy or comfortable one! Yin Yoga has the power to take you beyond your regular comfort zone, however, this is where much of the benefit and magic lies. There are no sun salutations, no planks, no warriors, no jump throughs! Yin Yoga is unique in that you are asked to relax into the posture, allowing the body to soften and release naturally.
